- Annotation: The article analyzes the perceptions of modern youth about the institutions of family and marriage. The purpose of this work is to study the perceptions of young people about family, future spouse, and the role of the parental family in shaping these perceptions. To achieve the research goal, the authors set the following tasks: to analyze theoretical and applied works devoted to this problem; to organize and conduct an empirical study on a sample of modern youth; to discover the specifics of modern youth's ideas about family and marriage, and to identify the aspects of the influence of the parental family on the ideas of young people about family. In the process of conducting the empirical study, the authors of the article used the semantic differential method as a methodological tool, as well as a specially created interview questionnaire by the authors, which allowed them to identify some features of young people's ideas about their parents' family. During the analysis of the results obtained, both similarities and differences in the views of young men and young women on family and marriage were found. Both young men and young women value in an ideal wife such qualities as: loyalty, support, accuracy, vitality. In an ideal husband, both girls and young men equally highly value such qualities as: loyalty, strength, responsibility. The results of the study showed that the parental family has a direct impact on the views of young people on who should manage the family, how many children should be in the family, what the age difference should be between the spouses.
