Annotation: The article discusses the issues of studying the level of students' preparedness for research activities at the stage of preparation and defense of their final qualifying work. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign literature, the article reveals the possibility of using various forms, methods, and techniques for students who are studying a profession related to the education and training of children with disabilities. The article describes the results of a study of the level of formation of research activities at the stage of preparation and defense of the final qualification work by bachelor's degree students of the Faculty of Defectology at Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushinsky, who study in the field of Special (Defectological) Education, profile “Logopedics”: full-time, part-time, and accelerated part-time education. For the study, we used such methods as the analysis of the texts of the diploma projects, speeches and presentations for the performance at the stage of their preparation and defense, observation, analysis of the feedback of academic supervisors. To identify the significance of the results in the samples, methods of mathematical statistics were used. Conclusions are drawn about the difference in the level of preparation and defense of the final qualification work by students of different forms of education; typical difficulties are indicated. The ways of improving research activities of speech therapists in the conditions of a pedagogical university are outlined.
