Annotation: The theoretical study of the autobiographical narrative’s role in the professional training of students from the perspective of an interdisciplinary approach is presented by the author. The concept of a doctor’s cultural code is examined and its relationship with narrative teaching practices is displayed in the article. The research methodology combines the analysis of narrative identity’s psychological concepts, literary analysis of autobiographical texts and pedagogical approaches to the spiritual and moral education of future specialists. It is revealed that the outstanding doctors’ autobiographical narratives are served as a value-oriented means of forming students’ professional identity and spirituality. Using the autobiography of the world-famous surgeon F.G. Uglov «The Surgeon’s Heart» as the example, it is demonstrated how professional and cultural codes are transmitted through personal life experience: hard work, compassion, perseverance, responsibility, respect for time and health. It is made the conclusion about the pedagogical significance of the autobiographical narratives’ involvement in the educational process of the university for the development of students’ value system and professional worldview.
