- Annotation: The article is devoted to the topical issue of professional self-determination in late adolescence, namely, the study of the specifics of the value-semantic personality, the relationship between the inclinations and abilities of students in medical classes. The relevance of the topic is due to the prevalence of the practice of early profiling, career guidance and the need to understand the psychological characteristics of adolescents consciously choosing the profession of a doctor. The article presents the results of a study on a sample of 64 adolescents aged 15–17, divided into the main (students of medical classes, n = 30) and control (students of standard classes, n = 34) groups. Psychodiagnostic instruments of the study: «Questionnaire of terminal values» (I.G. Senin), the «Orientation» technique (I.L. Solomin) for identifying professional inclinations and abilities, the Locus of Control Scale of J. Rotter. For statistical processing of the data, the Mann-Whitney U-test and the Spearman correlation coefficient were used. The study revealed statistically significant differences between the groups. Adolescents in medical classes demonstrate a higher expression of terminal values of self-prestige, self-development, and achievement. They are characterized by a pronounced inclination and aptitude for working in the human-to-human sphere, performing arts, and working with artistic images, as well as a talent for creative professions and working with nature. The findings confirm that education in medical classes is associated with a more structured and coherent system of inclinations and abilities, as well as a specific set of terminal values.
