- Annotation: The article discusses the problem of developing speaking skills among Chinese students of non-philological profile studying Russian in a non-linguistic environment. The purpose of the article is to establish the level of formation of oral speech skills based on the results of a methodological experiment at the Harbin University of Technology (HIT). Three groups of oral speech skills are defined: metacognitive (the ability to coherently, holistically and logically express one's point of view, the ability to argue, the ability to interpret, the ability to explain, the ability to draw conclusions), interaction skills (the ability to initiate, continue and end a dialogue; the ability to formulate a request), compensatory (the ability to paraphrase, the ability to express intentions, the ability to correlate speech models with a communicative situation). The article presents materials for an exploratory experiment conducted in the fall semester of 2024, and an ascertaining section. A description of one of the conversation club meetings on the topic "Stereotypes and Russian personality" is given. The results of the ascertaining section are analyzed and different levels of formation of oral speech skills are characterized: high, sufficient, average, low, minimal, zero. Ways of improving the program of the speaking club for those studying Russian as a foreign language are proposed.
