Annotation: The article substantiates the relevance of digitalization of education, provides a brief overview of research in this area in recent years, and notes the lack of coverage of this problem in rural schools. The article considers the features of education in rural areas due to the influence of territorial, economic, and social factors, the conditions and methods of education for rural schoolchildren, which determine the possibilities of using digital tools in the educational process. Special attention is paid to the problems of organizing the educational process in rural small and low-class schools, and specific ways are proposed to solve a number of problems of teaching schoolchildren using digital tools and artificial intelligence in organizing independent work, to develop educational motivation and expand the sphere of communication and social interaction among rural children. The paper shows the possibilities of digital tools to reduce the workload of rural school teachers who work in different age groups simultaneously in different educational programs, to individualize the educational process, adapt methodological materials to teach children of different ages and fitness, with health problems. At the same time, the risks for children and teachers when using digital tools are outlined, the existing problems of digitalization are highlighted, the role of teachers as accompanying the learning process of schoolchildren in a digital educational environment and increasing the educational potential of these tools is emphasized, the need for their optimal use and the validity of integrating digitalization into the educational process.
