Annotation: This article considers the current problem of teaching dialogic speech to foreign students at the pre-university stage of study. At the beginning of the article, the concept of dialogue, its importance in the lives of students and the factors that make teaching communication more productive are described. Then the author suggests one of the methods of teaching dialogic speech - “thematic conversationˮ. The author describes the main characteristics of such conversations, the conditions of the classes (the use of grammar and vocabulary exercises, the use of game and interactive teaching aids). The article presents various options for thematic conversations: question-and-answer format, round table, debate, discussion, briefing, case technology, etc. Particular attention is paid to the use of the question-and-answer format and study-case technology. The author reveals the essence of these methods, and describes their structures and principles of operation. An example of using these methods in the classroom and the students' results at the end are also given. It is concluded that the use of various formats of thematic conversations motivates foreigners to study the Russian language. In conclusion, the author writes about the importance and benefits of using thematic conversation in classes on Russian as a foreign language, as well as the positive impact of this method on the development of communicative competencies of foreign students.
