Annotation: The article examines the hypothesis of statistically significant differences in the manifestation of structural components of self-actualization and features of emotional intelligence during early adulthood. Contemporary experimental studies confirm the presence of psychological developmental mechanisms (internalization, identification, alienation, compensation) in early adulthood, which can manifest in various forms. The role of psychological developmental mechanisms in ontogeny is not uniform and changes throughout life. Emotional component is always present in the operation of psychological developmental mechanisms, regulating activities and giving them personal meaning. The results of empirical research on the features of structural components of self-actualization and emotional intelligence may serve as markers of psychological developmental mechanisms during early adulthood. It is revealed that the psychological resources for forming psychological developmental mechanisms in early adulthood may include: structural components of personality self-actualization – values in women and sociability in men; empathy – as a feature of emotional intelligence in men. Problematic areas for the formation of psychological developmental mechanisms during early adulthood may include: structural components of personality self-actualization – sociability in women, views on human nature in both gender samples; emotional regulation – as a feature of emotional intelligence in women.
Keywords: self-actualization, emotional intelligence, mechanism, psychological mechanism of development, internalization, identification, alienation, compensation.
