Annotation: The article discusses the importance of developing engineering thinking among schoolchildren and the possibility of achieving this goal through solving quasi-professional problems in physics. A refresher course for teachers, a classification of problems, as well as examples of problems with algorithms for solving them, which can be used in teaching physics, are presented. Data from a survey of advanced training course students are presented to identify the role and significance of quasi-professional physical tasks in the formation of schoolchildren's engineering thinking. The results obtained showed that this course is of interest to physics teachers, since it helps to develop the ability to apply physical knowledge in professionally oriented situations, develops critical thinking, communication skills and motivation of students to choose an engineering profession, and contributes to their early majoring.
