Annotation: The article considers current problems of teaching discrete mathematics to foreign military personnel. The main reasons that reduce efficiency and complicate the process of teaching discrete mathematics are identified. The authors noted that the lack of a teaching and methodological complex for foreign military personnel negatively affects the results of their training. The study was conducted at the Yaroslavl Higher Military School of Air Defense. During the study, various methods were used, including an analysis of scientific literature on this issue, oral and written surveys of foreign military personnel, pedagogical observation and experimental training. As a result of the study, the methodological techniques used in teaching foreign military personnel were analyzed, and the didactic principles for constructing the textbook were determined. According to the authors, the principles of accessibility and clarity should be the basis of the textbook for foreign military personnel. The article sets out the requirements for textbooks for foreign military personnel, on the basis of which the textbook on discrete mathematics for foreign military personnel was developed. The structure of the manual is described, the features of its creation are analyzed, the requirements for the mathematical text and the relationship between its sections are considered. The methodological techniques that allow the implementation of the identified teaching principles are described in detail, and examples are given.
