Annotation: The current research is aimed at studying the peculiarities of the formation of dialogical speech skills in English among journalism students based on the principle of cooperation by G. P. Grice. The main purpose of this work is to devise a set of exercises on English-language dialogical speech, as well as its approbation. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were solved: to consider the concept of "communicative competence", to conduct a comparative analysis of the points of view of domestic scientists regarding the components of communicative competence, to define the concepts of dialogic speech, interviews, political interviews, and study cases of compliance and violation of maxims of G. P. Grice in the framework of political interviews, the respondents of which are such American political figures as Kamala Harris, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Boris Johnson. In the course of the study, a set of methods was used, including linguistic analysis, direct observation of the interaction.
