- Annotation: The article is the first part of a comprehensive psychobiographical study devoted to the study of the socio-psychological characteristics of an outstanding Russian scientist, doctor, and religious figure of the first half of the twentieth century. Valentin Feliksovich Voino-Yasenetsky. One of the components of the psychobiographical study of a personality is the determination of its psychological type (N.A. Loginova). The analysis of Voino-Yasenetsky’s psychological type was based on the ideas of K.G. Jung in the field of differential psychology. The object of the study was his autobiographical and philosophical works. It was found that the most differentiated, i. e. developed in the mental organization of this historical personality was such a psychological function as sensation. Voino-Yasenetsky’s feeling had a distinctly extroverted orientation. His attention was largely drawn to the objects of the external world, the objective processes occurring in the surrounding space. This psychological feature identified in the texts is confirmed by Voino-Yasenetsky’s outstanding abilities in the field of surgery, pronounced leadership qualities, and the ability to react quickly in extreme situations. The results obtained require further verification, clarification and comprehension in the course of working with extensive material related to the personality of Voino-Yasenetsky and his life path.
